The Criminal Assets Bureau (Cab) has secured court orders allowing it sell three houses owned by an INLA member and one property owned by a drug dealer based in the west of Ireland, writes Conor Lally, Crime Correspondent
The bureau has also been granted an order allowing €40,000 in cash seized from a UK drug dealer to be retained by the State. The money was seized as it was being handed over by Gregory Champness, former member of Britain’s Olympic judo squad, to an Irish drugs gang.
Cab believes the INLA member in the first case is involved in organised crime in the Border area and applied to the High Court to seize three houses owned by him in Co Louth with an estimated value of €500,000.
