A nine-year-old boy was being treated in hospital for hypothermia last night after being rescued from a river by his older brother.
The two boys were found by fire and rescue crews clinging to rope swings attached to an overhanging branch over a stretch of water in Newcastle, Co Down.
It is understood the younger boy had fallen into the water prompting his 11-year-old brother to swim out to get him.
The incident at Tipperary Lane was reported to the emergency services at about 7pm.
Firefighters brought the boys to the shore where they were taken to hospital by paramedics.
