The Irish Times Group Opportunities
The core activity of The Irish Times Group has evolved from six-day print publishing to a seven-day multi-platform news publisher with a market-leading position in the development of subscriptions and maximising revenues.
We focus on producing quality content for our readers, providing media solutions for customers and we continue to grow and evolve in a fast-paced changing media landscape.
The Company is owned by The Irish Times Trust and is managed by The Irish Times DAC. In recent years, the Irish Times Group expanded its interests to include the Irish Examiner, The Echo, Regional newspapers and Radio stations in addition to the Citywest print facility, the property website MyHome.ie and Irish Times Training.
We have exciting opportunities for graduates from different disciplines to work in our offices across Dublin and Cork in the following areas:
• Commercial graduates with opportunities to work across marketing, media solutions and customer service
• UX Design and Development
• Graphic Design
Commercial candidates will have the opportunity, as and when operationally feasible, to rotate across different commercial departments of The Irish Times Group. The two-year placement provides an opportunity to get involved in day-to-day operations while developing a broad understanding of how the wider business works, working on business objectives and in line with the company strategy. Placements in Graphic Design, UX Design and Development will gain experience within specialist areas and have the opportunity to interface with other departments during the course of the placement.
This is a unique opportunity to build experience and contribute to the business in a large dynamic media group. You will gain hands on experience, interact with different areas of our business and broaden and build skills as you start out on your career. You will learn and gain valuable experience in a team environment, working with local and senior management. Entry Level Journalists
The Irish Times Group currently has entry-grade opportunities for journalists to work across digital and print. If you are a recent graduate or in the early stages of your career and looking for an opportunity to develop a career in journalism, we would like to hear from you.
The Irish Times Group offers a unique opportunity to develop careers in journalism across local regional titles and national news publishers. The placement provides a unique opportunity to gain experience across our regional titles, the Western People, Roscommon Herald, the Nationalist and the Waterford News and Star, The Echo and Irish Examiner based in Cork and in The Irish Times based in Dublin.
The successful candidates will gain valuable experience in producing all forms of content for digital and print platforms at an exciting time of change in media publishing
We are seeking applications from those who are committed to meeting the standards of care and accuracy, combined with scrupulous fairness, which are essential hallmarks of journalism across The Irish Times Group. Flexibility, initiative, drive and motivation are key to the success of the graduate opportunity.
Key elements of the role include copy-editing skills, the ability to write engaging headlines and stand-firsts, and producing clean accurate copy to deadline. An understanding of media and libel laws and knowledge of SEO and social media are central to the role.
