EA Sports Cup round-up:Defending champions Bohemians were knocked out in Gortakeegan tonight as Monaghan United claimed a 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory.

The clash ended 0-0 at the end of normal time but young striker striker Aaron Greene put the Dublin side ahead seven minutes into extra time.

Alan Byrne headed home an equaliser for the home side three minutes later to send the game to penalties.

It proved the only close game of the night, with George O’Callaghan grabbing five in Waterford’s 9-0 demolition of Tralee Dynamos at the RSC.

Matthew Blinkhorn grabbed a hat-trick and Pádraig Amond two goals as Sligo Rovers beat Letterkenny Rovers 6-0 at The Showgrounds, while Limerick proved too strong for Cork City FC at Turner’s Cross, winning 3-0 thanks to goals from Pat Purcell, Robbie Kelleher and Daryl Kavanagh.
