Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said the club will appeal Franck Ribery’s three-match European ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after Uefa upheld the ruling at an appeal hearing in Switzerland today.
The ban, which will prevent the French star playing in the Champions League Final against Inter Milan on May 22nd, came after he was sent off in the semi-final first leg against Lyon for a high tackle on Lisandro Lopez.
Bayern felt the initial decision by Italian referee Roberto Rosetti to dismiss Ribery was harsh, and immediately gave notice of their intention to appeal the ruling.
But after Uefa turned down the appeal today, Rummenigge stated they would take there case up with the CAS in Lausanne. “We will fight on,” Rummenigge told reporters.
