Bank of Ireland has warned customers to ignore what is described as "fraudulent emails" from a source purporting to be the bank or its online banking service, www.365online.com.

The bank said a number of its customers and non-customers have received e-mails today directing them to a website posing as its online service, www.365online.com.

The email directs the recipient to a website where they are asked to input personal banking information.

Bank of Ireland said it never requests customer information in this manner and warned customers to ignore them. "Under no circumstance should anyone log on to this spurious site or enter any details," it said in a statement.
