The trial at the Central Criminal Court of a Westmeath man charged with raping a now 72-year-old woman over several years has continued with legal argument in the absence of the jury.

The 56-year-old accused man pleads not guilty to four charges of rape and five of indecent assault on the woman from 1983 to 1994.
