Alitalia cancels nearly 300 flights

Rome - Alitalia yesterday cancelled nearly 300 flights after a small union called a 24-hour strike, airport officials in Rome said. Officials said 294 flights to domestic and European destinations had been cancelled throughout the day, but transcontinental flights were not affected.
