The National Roads Authority is to get a total of £620 million (€787 million) next year for investment in roads, including motorways. This marks a 26 per cent increase on the current figure.

Mr McCreevy also announced an allocation of £420 million to projects in the National Development Plan, including the Luas light rail scheme in Dublin and the mainline rail safety programme.
