GARDAÍ ARE treating as suspicious the death of a 10-day-old baby boy who died in hospital yesterday morning after being admitted with head injuries and bruising to his body.
The child’s family live in Navan, Co Meath, but were on a visit to a house in Lusk, north Co Dublin, on Thursday evening. The child was taken by family members to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth, in the early hours of yesterday. He was pronounced dead at 2am.
A postmortem has concluded the child died from head injuries and bruising to the body.
Detectives are trying to determine how, where and when the child’s injuries were sustained. The house in Lusk was sealed off for an examination by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.
Gardaí hope to interview the baby’s parents and the other people who were at the house today to advance the investigation.
