This is the first official sketch of the next generation Mitsubishi Lancer saloon, due to arrive in Ireland next September. With an official unveiling at the upcoming Detroit motor show in January, the new car will be introduced here with a choice of 1.5-litre 108bhp petrol or 2-litre diesel engines.
The diesel offering is reportedly going to feature a choice of power outputs from 150bhp to 200bhp.
While proportions are unrealistic for a production car, the shark-eye headlamps and the new-look grille taken from the Concept-X show car is likely to feature in the production model. Along with the saloon, a sporty hatchback version will follow in December 2007 and the 300bhp Evo X will arrive in February 2008. The Evo will be a derivative of the saloon version.
Pricing and specification are yet to be announced but it will most likely be €1,000-€1,500 more than the current Lancer, which is priced at €18,650.
