Eoin Lyons on new openings in interior design shops
GOING TO THE LIGHT SIDE
Glenna Lynch opened her second Mimosa shop (01-2602443) beside the Montrose Hotel in Donnybrook last autumn - the first is in Dún Laoghaire - and in the next few weeks she will be taking on a unit next door to focus on dark wood furniture, rather than the lighter tones in which she has specialised to date. While feeding a voracious demand for Gustavian and Danish furniture, Lynch does the look better than most. The shop is good for specific pieces. For example, if you are searching for a traditional sofa that isn't twee, she does a great linen two-seater for €1,500 and others for €2,600. Other good items are rise and fall ceramic lights for over a table or an island, costing €590, and a handsome eight-foot-high bookcase with a painted finish for €2,890.
