Moving in on a military location: Bernard McNamara's Cableside Development Limited is seeking planning permission to build a 230-unit residential development at the former Department of Defence on Infirmary Road, Dublin 7.

This would involve demolishing six buildings on site, the removal of lean-to structures and the refurbishment of the former isolation hospital and its conversion into a 20-space creche, offices and meeting rooms and a community health clinic.

The former married quarters would also be refurbished and a 546sq m (5,877sq ft) four-storey extension built which would be converted to office use. Cableside is also looking to build four blocks of apartments and 200 basement car spaces and remove a protected wall and railings to the north of the site.

Developer Frank Flynn has proposed a major mixed-use development in the Liberties, Dublin 8. The development, which is at the junction of Bellevue and School Street and adjacent to the Guinness Hopstore, would comprise 82 apartments in three blocks rising to nine storeys.

The development would also include a 12-storey tower. This would involve the demolition of a school on School Street.

The rear yard of the Hopstore building would also be upgraded as part of the development and a footpath at Bellevue widened to create a new plaza.
