Investing inFrance:A new scheme of villas and apartments in the south of France near the Spanish border will appeal to those who like to be near interesting towns and villages while being beside the sea in a well-established resort.
The development, Lapinede, in the village of Barcares, will comprise 15 terraced villas and 41 apartments incorporated into eight buildings. The units range in size from one-bedroom apartments with terrace which cost from €108,400, through two-bedroom apartments with terrace, ranging from €204,500, and three-bed villas with terrace, garage and garden which start at €298,750. There will be a communal swimming pool.
The village has a population of about 6,000 people and there are two weekly markets along with restaurants and supermarkets. The sandy beach, 300m from the scheme, stretches out over more than 8km and there is a marina with sailing school and water park. There is also horse riding, ice-skating and a cinema and skiing in the Pyrenees is an hour and a half away. The nearest airport is at Perpignan (20 minutes drive away, serviced by Ryanair from Stansted) and Girona and Carcassonne are also nearby (serviced by Ryanair). Completion is set for June 2007 and Bidsinfrance is handling sales.
