Planning & Development:Niall Molloy's Ailesbury Co-ownership has got permission from Dublin City Council for 402 residential units at a 9.5-acre former CIÉ freight yard at Carnlough Road in Cabra, Dublin 7, which he bought for €28 million in 2004.
Instead of the 523 homes which he had planned for the site, Molloy now hopes to build 394 apartments and eight houses. There would also be a crèche, retail units and civic centre.
In Cork, Werdna Ltd has got permission with revised conditions from An Bord Pleanála for a €100 million high-rise residential scheme at Water Street on Cork's north quays. Between Lwr Glanmire Road and the Lee, the plan is for around 300 apartments.
Nearby in Cobh, Holy Ground and Environs Action Group is appealing a marina development on Connolly Street to An Bord Pleanála. The proposal by Cobh Marina Developments Ltd is for a mixed-use development of 150 apartments in blocks of two and three storeys, and a six-storey apartment building, retail and office units, and a 200-berth marina.
Holy Ground and Environs Action Group is objecting to the development on the basis of its impact on the environment of the area, its ecological impact, its effect on views of Cork Harbour and the risk of landslide.
In Fingal, Firth Developments is looking for permission from Fingal County Council for a residential scheme at St Joseph's Hospital, Clonsilla, Dublin 15, which is in Hansfield Strategic Development Zone (SDZ). Firth wants to build 215 apartments in four blocks, rising to six storeys.
The Trustees of the Jewish Home of Ireland are looking to demolish a synagogue and a nursing home for a residential scheme at 2-6 Leinster Road West and Effra Road in Rathmines, Dublin 6. The plan is for 10 apartments and nine houses.
