Kilmainham/€230,000-€295,000: The last 24 one and two-bedroom apartments at the contemporary-style Metropolitan development in Kilmainham are being launched this week through Sherry FitzGerald New Homes with prices starting at €230,000. Justin Comiskey reports.

Fronting the Cammock river and in off the Inchicore Road beside Kilmainham Gaol, Metropolitan is a scheme of just over 100 apartments in four blocks within 4 kms of O'Connell Bridge. There are three Dublin Bus routes closeby, plus a stop on the Tallaght-to-Connolly Luas line while the M50 is a short drive away.

The remaining one-bedroom apartments are typically 47 sq m (511 sq ft) and cost from €230,000. Two-bedroom apartments of 69-77 sq m (743-831 sq ft) are priced from €295,000. Most apartments have balconies of 3.1-5.2 sq m (33-56 sq ft) while apartments at penthouse level have terraces of up to 20 sq m (215 sq ft). There are 132 underground car-parking spaces available for €10,000 each and speed lifts service all floors.

The architects, Niall D Brennan & Associates, have used large windows to maximise light and the development has a series of landscaped courtyards between its blocks. In addition to an equipped fitness suite for residents, Metropolitan also features a new boardwalk beside the Cammock river. Standard features include fitted kitchens with an oven, hob, washing machine and fridge freezer; electric showers in all en suites; fitted wardrobes; and electric Gold Shield heating. Amenities nearby include the Phoenix Park, and a variety of shops, pubs and cafes. Construction is well underway and completion dates are expected from next summer. The developer at Metropolitan is Aston Properties.
