A go-anywhere shelving system

Shopfront: Argos isn't glamorous or cool but its catalogue often offers the odd good buy at reasonable prices.

That's the case with these shelves in beech or walnut effect for €24.99.

They could be used anywhere in the home - bathroom, kitchen, livingroom.

They have a decent depth, so can hold a variety of objects, and would be good for books or decorative items.

What's nice about them is that they float on the wall, thanks to invisible fixings.

And much as we love Habitat, it has to be said that these are close to wall shelves that it sells for €75.

If you prefer solid timber, then Argos has a number of shelves and storage units in pine, although they do tend to look better stained.

A subtle, darker wood stain, or one in a colour, such as blue or green, works best. Steer clear of orange hued 'natural' timber stains: they make furniture look cheap.
