This week's product and treatment recommendations with the tip of the week.
PRODUCT OF THE WEEK
Nivea Satin Radiance body moisturiser, €6.49, available countrywide. Smelling of apricots, and quick to absorb into the skin, this body moisturiser is the perfect daily staple as it delivers moisture and smoothing benefits, and also includes a very faint shimmer, to add lustre wherever it is applied. A real mass-market find.
TREATMENT OF THE WEEK
€100 from Facialworks, 37 Lr Pembroke Street, Dublin 2, 01-6761168. This is a one-hour treatment that focuses on the application of a very thick face mask that claims to mimic the effects of Botox without invasive needles or the freezing effects of bochulinum. After cleansing and exfoliating, the mask goes on, right up to the eyes, and is left to firm for 40 minutes before being peeled off. It's heavy and slightly claustrophobic, but not entirely unpleasant. The resulting vibrancy and instant lift to the face is noticeable, while fine lines are diminished in the following 48 hours, and the effect lasts for almost a month. An alternative to the full-on injectable.
TIP OF THE WEEK
For a perfect Hollywood pout, exfoliate lips with an old toothbrush and then dot a little foundation around the edge of the lip line. Line with a pencil the same shade as your lips, or slightly darker. Set with a little loose powder over the line to prevent the colour from bleeding. Apply lipstick with a good lip brush that doesn't splay out too much, so you can create a perfect shape, and blot using a tissue. Re-apply colour, but remember, dark shades tend to make a small mouth look even smaller. Finish with a touch of gloss, but don't take it over the edge of the lip, as it will cause lipstick to bleed.
