Congratulations, you’ve almost there and it’s within your reach to be able to swim a mile by the middle of this month.

In Week 11 of The Irish Times Get Swimming course, Melanie Nocher focuses on tumbling at the wall, while also increasing your distance to 1800m. More details on irishtimes.com/getswimming

 

Welcome to Week 11 of Get Swimming, a 12-week programme brought to you by The Irish Times, in association with Swim Ireland. Congratulations, you’ve almost there and it’s within your reach to be able to swim a mile by the middle of this month.

Week 11

In this week's programme, we are working on extending the distance you can swim comfortably to 1,800m. You are working on perfecting your stroke at this stage, turning at the wall and surface dives, head first and feet first. Your swimming coach, former Olympian Melanie Nocher, will address these areas in this week’s to see how this will go for you.

If you are taking part, you need to be able to commit to three training sessions a week. Remember, you can still register for Swim Ireland's Swim for a Mile challenge at swimforamile.com.
 

Session 1

Total lengths = 60 lengths

Total distance = 1,500m

Session 2

Total lengths = 60 lengths

Total distance = 1,500m

Session 3

Total lengths = 64 lengths

Total distance = 1,600m
