Bava Bass Tuba Moscato d'Asti 2004, Piedmont, 4.5%, €9.95, 37.5cl: By Piedmont standards the Bava wines deliver on bangs per buck. The top Barbera, the 1998 Stradivario (as in the violin; Roberto Bava loves music), was elegant, rich and very classy, while the Alteserre Monferrato DOC Bianco, a blend of Chardonnay and Cortese, was more delicate. But we were seduced by the floral character of the Moscato, honey-fresh and soft in the mouth, light on alcohol, heavy on pleasure. Berry Brothers & Rudd, Harry St, Dublin
La Croisade 2006, Vin de Pays d'Oc, 13.5%, €13.99 (reduced to €6.99 until May 29th): Good value from the south of France with this Chardonnay laden with vanilla and pear.
