Bava Bass Tuba Moscato d'Asti 2004, Piedmont, 4.5%, €9.95, 37.5cl: By Piedmont standards the Bava wines deliver on bangs per buck. The top Barbera, the 1998 Stradivario (as in the violin; Roberto Bava loves music), was elegant, rich and very classy, while the Alteserre Monferrato DOC Bianco, a blend of Chardonnay and Cortese, was more delicate. But we were seduced by the floral character of the Moscato, honey-fresh and soft in the mouth, light on alcohol, heavy on pleasure. Berry Brothers & Rudd, Harry St, Dublin

La Croisade 2006, Vin de Pays d'Oc, 13.5%, €13.99 (reduced to €6.99 until May 29th): Good value from the south of France with this Chardonnay laden with vanilla and pear. There is a touch of offputting bubble-gum sweetness but the fresh fruity character and the offer price will make you smile. Superquinn

Rosa Rosae 2006, Guerrieri Rizzardi, Veneto,12%, €12.99: Here's something to go with a sunny garden. Light red fruit, soft and clean in the mouth and a smooth finish. And at 12% abv you can indulge in another glass and stand to tell the tale. From: O'Brien's branches
