Wines for the Weekend: These wines – a pinot gris and a Haut-Médoc – offer great value for money

This week, we feature two budget-friendly wines for less than €10. Both are part of the Lidl Everyday range, which means they should be available throughout the year.

New Zealand is about more than Marlborough sauvignon. It also makes other great white wines, including chardonnay, riesling and pinot gris. This week’s wine is a classic example of pinot gris at a very keen price.

Lidl usually has a good range of red Bordeaux, often at very good prices. Haut-Médoc is one of the posher subregions of Bordeaux, so the wine below offers real value for money.

A very tasty white wine with floral aromas, honeyed orchard fruits and apricot and a dry finish. This would go nicely with shellfish, Thai crab cakes and other spicy Asian fish, or creamy cheeses.
