PHIL Spector has produced some of the most memorable pop and soul music of all time. He merged jazz with soul and pop, adding a darker throb of lust to popular teen love songs and layering them to produce his unique Wall of Sound.
Spector described his own work as "Wagnerian little symphonies for the kids." Hits which he produced include Then He Kissed Me, River Deep, Mountain High, You've Lost That Loving Feeling, Spanish Harlem, Let It Be, Da Doo Ron Ron, Unchained Melody, My Sweet Lord, Imagine, Proud Mary and Jealous Guy.
The trial of Phil Spector begins on Monday.
