Seven of the nine US Supreme Court Justices were appointed by Republican presidents

Seven of the nine US Supreme Court Justices were appointed by Republican presidents. Two were appointed by President George Bush, father of the current Republican candidate, and two were nominated to the court by President Clinton.

The composition of the court is:

Chief Justice, William Rehnquist : (76) Appointed by Richard Nixon in 1972, and promoted to chief justice by Ronald Reagan in 1986.

John Stevens : (80) Appointed by Gerald Ford in 1975.
