Let's go minimal! Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe clear out some clutter to make room for more arch, ironic arty pop that should be as outdated as Ataris, but still sounds oddly contemporary. They're not throwing out the pointy hats, though.

Stairway to Heaven Rubyworks **

The Mexican guitar duo ignore the "No Stairway" sign in the music shop and put their own Latin flavour on the hoary old Zep anthem. Their Metallica covers are better, but at least there's no lyrics about forests echoing with laughter.
