What you’ll hear on Glow is Marco Niemerski’s definition of pop music. The German DJ and producer certainly knows his onions when it comes to house and disco (as we’ve seen from his massive hit, Coma Cat ). But as Glow begins to spin, it’s clear that some finely tuned pop sensibilities and a winning fondness for irresistable hooks are also part of his make-up. These attributes are present in Love Sublime , on which serial collaborator Nile Rodgers’s shiny, unmistakable guitar lines underpin Tasmanian vocalist Fiora; on the wobbly r’n’b charm of Holla ; and in the old-school Balearic kick of Things Left to Say . Aside from Rodgers, Niemerski appears to work best with Fiora, as is evident from the silky, soulful work on No Relief and See Right Through . Another reason to cheer the current house renaissance. tensnake. tumblr.com
