Jeremy Lindsay and his five friends hail from Chicago. By the merry sound of them they like nothing better than to pass the summer hanging out on the stoop in their neighbourhood, exchanging classy white soul melodies such as Low Julyand the title track, and dreaming of pop salvation. It may remain a dream – this collection hits and misses with its tales of local lore – but the retro soul feel, along with the gospel and Caribbean influences, make it an enjoyable if limited recording.
