PriceWatch was contacted by John Lehane, who works in Dublin but tries to fly home to Cork most weekends. Travelling with Aer Arann, he says, is very expensive, as it is the only operator on the route. Leaving Dublin on the evening of Friday, January 30th, for example, and returning on the morning of Monday, February 2nd will cost 163. By comparison Lehane says he could fly to Amsterdam for €126 with Aer Lingus or to Brussels for €63 with Ryanair.

Aer Arann says Lehane is selecting one of its peak time flights. Huge demand from business customers means fewer of the airline's cheaper seats are available. Customers should be able to find lower fares if they can be flexible about the time of day they travel, it says. Aer Arann adds that it will be reviewing the possibility of adding flights to the route from next summer.
