CRAZY P A Night on Earth Shiva ***

For the six-strong act formerly known as Crazy Penis (insert your own circumcision gag here), it's a case of new name, same old sounds. A Night on Earth is their fourth album and another hooksome blend of disco, house and funk designed to get heads nodding and toes tapping, especially in the live setting, for which the band have earned quite a rep. While previous slick cuts should have fitted with ease onto radio playlists, Crazy P have obviously decided that a name-change might help enormously in that regard. Certainly, tracks such as Sun-Science and Kicks could slide with ease into the mainstream, each one spectacularly enhanced by silky production skills and, in the case of the classy and peerless funk paean Lady T, singer Danielle Moore singing her little heart out.
