The latest installation in the Lego series might be the best. Starting off with the Silver Surfer being scattered around in brick form, the Marvel superheroes have to head off Dr Doom, Loki, Magneto and the rest of the villains before they find super-powerful blocks. Each character has a special power and task: Iron Man can interact with silver objects; Spiderman uses his spider sense (similar to Wolverine’s) to reveal hidden things you can climb; Mr Fantastic can squeeze through impossible gaps; Hulk just drags and smashes things. You switch between characters easily, using their skills where needed. The game concentrates on solving missions, in true Lego style: tongue in cheek, with jokes flying. There are plenty of characters to unlock (both heroes and villains), with all the favourites and a few lesser known ones making an appearance. The puzzles may not be the most challenging, but it’s funny and fresh – a must-have for consoles.
