Go indie with magazine app ReadBug

One of life's luxuries is the weekend purchase of expensive magazines printed on heavy paper with beautiful, glossy images. This doesn't always translate well to the iPad: the magazine feel often gets lost. ReadBug, however, has managed to emulate this and is by far the prettiest and most user-friendly iOS magazine app out there.

The focus is on independent magazines, so expect hip titles such as Dazed and Under the Radar. If you are new to the indie mag scene then the "article stream" feature is perfect as it functions like a newsfeed of popular articles across all magazines. You can choose from eight categories including food, music, visual arts and design. ReadBug is an all-you-can-read subscription service costing £9.99 a month or £4.99 for students.
