CONSTRUCTION IS to begin shortly on a new cinema complex and Leisureplex facility at Charlestown shopping centre off the M50 at Finglas in north Dublin.
Developers Michael and Tom Bailey have secured funding of €12 million from Nama to provide the leisure facilities along with drive-through restaurants for KFC and McDonald’s.
The new range of facilities will add around €1.5 million to the annual rent roll and will lead to the creation of 200 construction jobs over the 18-month development period and 50 part-time jobs.
Around 130 full-time posts will be filled when the development work has been completed on the 9,290sq m (100,000sq ft) project.
Brothers Colm and Ciaran Butler’s UCI/Odeon Group is to operate the Leisureplex as well as the nine cinemas which will seat 1,700 patrons.
The Charlestown area has a huge population in the 18 to 35 age category.
Along with the two 371sq m (4,000sq ft) restaurants there will also be a crèche.
Dunnes Stores is the anchor tenant in the shopping centre which is located at Junction 5 off the M50.
