Sport Ireland Campus: Here We Go campaign launches

Sport Ireland Campus has launched their Here We Go campaign, designed to raise national awareness and pride in the world-class facilities at the Sport Ireland Campus and to encourage everyone to take the opportunity to experience the home of Irish Sport

Sport Ireland Campus is open to everyone. High performance programmes based in the Sport Ireland Campus include the IRFU, Swim Ireland, FAI, Hockey Ireland, Badminton Ireland, Gymnastics Ireland.

International teams such as the All Blacks also use the facilities for their training camps. However, besides the high performance athletes, the Sport Ireland Campus caters for the needs of the local community with participation programmes, and it is also open to visitors from around the country for events or facility hire.

The Sport Ireland Campus is ideal for team or individual training and boasts world-class indoor and outdoor facilities which host local, national and international events. Many of our current and future Olympians, including Shane Ryan (Swimmer), Nhat Nguyen (Badminton) and many more, train at the Campus to prepare for competition around the world.

The Sport Ireland Campus also provides valuable amenities for the local community with facility rentals, kids camps, academies, parties, team-building events, and corporate conferences and exhibitions.  Furthermore, there are inclusive programmes for athletes with disabilities and people recovering from chronic illness.

The Here We Go campaign has been developed to champion these world-class facilities by engaging with the public and encouraging them to learn more and get involved.

Ireland and Leinster rugby player Caelan Doris said: “The facilities at the Sport Ireland Campus really are world class and it’s always exciting to train and prepare here for the big stage. I’d recommend everyone to learn more and see how they can get involved.”

Key facilities include:

Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena houses a number of different sports including athletics, field sports (rugby, soccer, GAA), gymnastics, basketball, badminton, martial arts and more. This fully accessible, multi-sport and multi-purpose arena was built to the highest world-class standards. It ensures that Ireland has the best facility for indoor sport and events, which can be used by sporting bodies, high-performance athletes, clubs and the general public.

The centrepiece of the building is a 200-metre indoor running track, used for athletics training, competitions and a variety of other sports.

There's impressive indoor synthetic pitches, including a full -sized soccer pitch and utilised by all field sports and a half-sized rugby pitch.

The Sport Ireland National Gymnastics Training Centre is a bespoke facility containing all the equipment needed for elite performers, academies, camps, school and corporate team-building events.

The Sport Ireland National Aquatic Centre attracts over one million visitors a year and hosts national and international events. This is where high-performance athletes train as well as grassroot and adult ‘Learn to Swim’ academies, diving academies, school programmes, member or family recreational swim sessions. The NAC is also the home of the renowned family-favourite AquaZone waterpark and a high-spec gym, Sport Ireland Campus Fitness which welcomes all fitness levels.

The Campus is also home to the IRFU high Performance Centre, the GAA National Games Development Centre, and the FAI National Training Centre. The Multi-Sport Synthetic Pitches cater for the national Hockey team training and also provide all-weather pitches for local Soccer and Gaelic teams with 10 pitches in total and a pavilion with meeting rooms.

Over 25 National Governing Bodies have offices located in the Sport Ireland Campus in the Irish Sport HQ and in individual offices. This facilitates collaboration and cooperation between the different sporting codes in Ireland.

The Olympic-standard National Horse Sport Arena is located in the old walled garden of Abbotstown House for equestrian training and events. The arena is designed for show jumping, dressage, carriage driving, pony and eventing.

The Sport Ireland National Cross-Country Track was the host venue of the 2021 European Cross Country Championships and is a permanent track for both training and competition as well as a weekly parkrun.

The National Modern Pentathlon Centre with a Fencing Arena and a Laser Shooting facility complements the facilities on Campus for Running, Swimming and Horse Riding, featuring all five of the modern pentathlon sports in one location.

The National Diving Training Centre allows Ireland's top divers as well as Diving Academy, gymnasts and our Kids Camp participants to practise and perfect their technique outside of the pool using high spec trampoline and tumbling areas.

The list of facilities is endless. Other highlights include a Campus Conference Centre, the Cricket Ireland High Performance Training Centre, a Cyclocross Skills Zone, Walking trails.  Outside of these facilities, over 500 acres of walking and running routes, forest paths, a 2.5mk loop with outdoor fitness and sports equipment and open spaces can be enjoyed by all.
