Manning to take title by recording a treble

DESPITE a dislike of racing right-handed, Not complaining but did well to run Miltonfield to a length in the Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh over which course she did not fare nearly so well next time out. A very easy winner from Miltonfield in the Carling Gold Cup over Listowel's left-hand course, Paddy Mullins's charge could take beating in tomorrow's November Handicap at Leopardstown.

There is some fine racing for the close of the Flat season with Kevin Manning needing three winners to wrest this year's championship from John Murtagh who is currently riding in Hong Kong.

Manning is not concerned in the November Handicap, but I reckon his banker is the consistent Idris in the listed Knockaire Stakes. ldris finished a two- lengths third behind Sir Mark Prescott's Wizard King in a Group Three over this distance at Tipperary but is now 7lb better off. That might be sufficient to turn the tables.

Burden Of Proof, successful over this course and distance last time out, was only a head adrift of Idris at Tipperary but is now 5lb worse off. The progressive Ger's Royale gave 4lb and a two and a half length beating to Burden Of Proof in a listed race over six furlongs at headquarters. As he now meets Charles O'Brien s charge at levels, he might well be the one Idris has to fear.

Cambodian finished a short head in front of Quws when runner-up to Johan Cruyff in the Group Three Beresford Stakes at the Curragh and must have strong claims in the listed Eyrefield Stakes. However, Kevin Manning's mount, subsequently successful over this course, may face stiff opposition from Johan Cruyff's stable companion, Strawberry Roan, who bolted home by eight lengths at Navan.

Kevin Manning looks to have good prospects on the Paddy Mullins-trained Our Bart in the Lower Grange Nursery. This colt ran the odds-on Zafarabad to a length in a seven furlong maiden at Galway, and the winner had previously finished behind Cambodian at Navan. Recent winner Orange Jasmine, who finished half a length in front of Our Bart at Fairyhouse, will find it hard to confirm the placings on 12lb worse terms.

Manning's final chance is on the Martin Brassil-trained Inchacooley in the inter Varsity-Cup. The four-year-old finished fourth behind French Ballerina in a listed race at the Curragh, having run that filly to less than a length in a similar event at Naas. However, I hope Manning will have gained the crown by this stage, as I prefer the remarkable Con Collins-trained The Bower who, for all his weight, will not dive in without a battle.

Opposition to the Champion Chase winner Klairon Davis in the Commology Handicap Chase has whittled down to two. Arthur Moore's charge is said to be straight enough, but only the race will tell.

Fairly Sharp, who had recent winner Choosey's Treasure a long way behind when winning a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse, is taken to follow up in the Sandyford Hurdle.
