Youth (17) shot in ankles in west Belfast

A 17-year-old was seriously injured in a paramilitary-style attack in Belfast last night.

A 17-year-old was seriously injured in a paramilitary-style attack in Belfast last night.

The youth was taken from his home in Westrock Drive and taken to Westrock Square in Ballymurphy at 6 p.m. where he was shot in the ankles.

Ballymurphy is a large nationalist estate in west Belfast.

Meanwhile, the PSNI is appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries at 5 p.m. yesterday evening. He was brought to hospital from a house on Cameron Street in south Belfast.
