A woman killed in a loyalist bomb attack at her Portadown home last year was throwing the device outside when it exploded, the High Court in Belfast heard.
A Crown lawyer said the bomb was thrown into the living room of Mrs Elizabeth O'Neill's home in the Corcrain Estate last June. "She lifted the device and was in the process of carrying it into the hall towards the front door when it exploded and killed her."
The lawyer was opposing a bail application by Mr Philip Joseph Blaney (37), from Shimna Walk, Lurgan, who is accused of murdering Mrs O'Neill (59) and attempting to murder a neighbour.
The Crown lawyer said Mr Blaney told police about his part in planned attacks on two houses. He said he and three other men collected two pipe bombs and split into pairs.
It was planned to throw a brick through a window of each house and then follow up with the bombs.
Refusing bail, Mr Justice Sheil said the application was entirely without merit.
