A Wicklow man (32) has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his father at their home in Arklow ten years ago the Central Criminal Court in Dublin heard today.

Mr Thomas Heaney of St John's Villas, Arklow, Wicklow, entered his guilty plea the day before his trial was due to start for the unlawful killing of his father, Mr Peter Heaney, on October 9th, 1994.

Mr Justice Paul Carney said Heaney will be sentenced on December 13th at the Central Criminal Court.

In 2000, Mr Heaney was freed on bail by the Court of Criminal Appeal after it overturned his conviction for the murder of his father.
