Four Israelis were arrested on suspicion of arson at Schiphol airport after a flight to Tel Aviv had its take-off aborted when heavy smoke developed in the cabin.
225 passengers of the Dutch flag carrier KLM (KLM.AS) Boeing 767 had to be evacuated through emergency exits following the aborted take-off, which was triggered by a fire alarm sounding on the plane, a spokesman for KLM said.
The aircraft had already reached a speed of around 100 km (62 miles) per hour when its take-off had to be halted, he said.
The four arson suspects - the oldest of whom is 26 - were retained for interrogation.
A spokesman for the military police said the other passengers had later resumed their journey on another plane.
One passenger was slightly injured during the emergency evacuation.
