A teenage girl has told a jury that a youth with whom she had a childhood romance when they were seven years old threatened to kill her during a sexual assault six years later. The woman, now 18, cried as she told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court about the alleged assault in Co Wicklow in 1996. She said she met the defendant after she attended a teenage disco. He offered to walk her home and when she refused he pulled her down a lane. She said he tried to have sex with her. She tried to push him off but he put his arm around her neck and tried to choke her. The defendant, who is now 17, has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting the woman and assaulting her causing harm on August 9th, 1996.
