Gardaí at Santry in north Dublin are investigating an armed robbery on a petrol station near Dublin Airport during which two shots were fired this morning.

A Garda spokeswoman said the robbery happened at 10.40 a.m. at the premises on the Corballis Road.

Two men armed with what appeared to be sawn-off shotguns entered the station and escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash.

Two shots were fired during the incident, but no one was injured. There were customers present in the garage at the time, the spokeswoman confirmed.

A car was found a short distance away.  It did not appear to have been stolen, the Garda spokeswoman said. Gardaí are undertaking a forensic examination on the vehicle.
