GAME surges ahead on strong demand

Profits at GAME Group - previously Electronics Boutique - have doubled on the back of a strong video games market.

Pre-tax profits before one-off costs grew to £26.3 million sterling, from £13 million. Turnover rose by 48 per cent to £453.8 million, from £307.1 million.

The final dividend is being increased by 21 per cent to 0.4p per share, from 0.33p last time.

The company, which adopted its new name this month, opened 78 stores during the year.
