French actor Gerard Dépardieu has described the "beautiful" moment he relieved himself on a flight en route to Dublin recently.

He was removed from a Cityjet plane from Paris to Dublin on August 16th after he urinated in a bottle in the aisle just before takeoff.

In an interview with talkshow host Anderson Cooper on CNN, Depardieu said he had told the stewardess before takeoff that he "had to pee" but she had blocked the door to the toilet with her foot.

"I’m not sick, I’m not a terrorist…I just want to pee," Depardieu said.

He said he had been given an empty bottle by a friend on the flight and had used that to urinate in. To laughter and applause from the audience, Depardieu describes the moment of relief as "so beautiful".

“I’m not a monster. I’m just a man who wants to pee.”

Admitting the bottle had overflown on the floor, Depardieu said he had told the stewardess he would clean up after himself.

“The bottle…it was too small. I am an elephant," he said.

The actor was on his way to the Republic, where he is filming the €50 million film Astérix and Obélix: God Save Britannia.
