The Garda in Dublin are searching for two men who carried out an armed raid on a security van in Capel Street this morning before escaping with a substantial sum of money.

The two men, wearing motorbike helmets and boiler suits, threatened security staff who were delivering bags of cash to the Allied Irish Bank. At least one of the men was armed with a shotgun.

The men made their escape on a motorbike which was later found abandoned in Lower Dominic Street.

Gardai believe the raiders then left in a silver car with 01-D in the registration.
