Wear it out: Eclectic shopping list gives fashion blogger Amelia a sparkly, street-savvy look

This week we caught up with fab writer and la femme éclectique blogger Amelia O’Mahony-Brady

This week we caught up with fab writer and la femme éclectique blogger Amelia O'Mahony-Brady (lafemmeeclectique.com). Her look this week is a mix of pieces by Irish designers and from independent boutiques with a few high street bits thrown in for good measure.

She shows us that shopping locally and supporting home-grown talent really does give your look that individual edge.

Honor Fitzsimons’ Monster Knit candy pink scarf, €70.

Without a doubt, one of the most treasured items I own. It is a serious show-stopper! I fell in love with Honor’s incredible knits three years ago, and am over the moon to call this “eyelash-yarn” piece my own.

River Island black lace-trimmed top, €30.

I love layering this over high-waisted skirts, as the lace trim falls at just the right length. It’s one of those versatile staples you can dress up or down as you like.

Nine Crows turquoise suede pencil skirt, €36.

As much I gravitate towards the eye-catching sequins in Nine Crows, I’m especially fond of their vibrant leather and suede skirts. They come in every shade imaginable, and instantly brighten up an all-black outfit. There was no way I was leaving this turquoise number behind!

Om Diva chandelier earrings, €28 and cocktail ring, €24.

I have a long-standing love affair with Om Diva’s costume jewellery – the selection is unparalleled. I also love their ethos of wearing colour and sparkle to combat a dull day: the darker winter becomes, the more I try to compensate with extravagant earrings!

River Island black leather-look jacket, €87.

Everyone needs a black leather jacket in their wardrobe; it adds an effortless edge to any ensemble. This one comes with a detachable fur collar, which I usually only wear when my jewellery is minimal.

Zara black glittery ankle boots, €50.

I am a sucker for glitter boots and I couldn’t resist picking this pair from Zara’s new-season collection. They’re surprisingly good for dancing the night away.

As a rule . . .

No matter what the occasion, I always like to throw a bit of sparkle into my look. On the days where I’m wearing less colour, I tend to put on a statement piece of jewellery – like chandelier earrings or a cocktail ring – to contrast a muted colour palette. The only rule I enforce is that comfort wins above all, especially where shoes are concerned. I’ll take a chunky-heeled ankle boot over a pair of stilettos any day.
