SWIMMING:One swimmer qualified, target of five more, with key opportunities being the Dutch Open and US Nationals in December, the Irish Long Course Championships next March, and finally the European Championships in Antwerp next May. Possible contenders include Gráinne Murphy, Nuala Murphy, Claire Dawson, Beijing Olympians Melanie Nocher and Ashling Cooney and US-based Andrew Bree, Ryan Harrison and Fiona Doyle.
SAILING
Three potential Olympic qualifiers currently being funding by Sailing Ireland: Peter O’Leary and David Burrows in the Star class, Annalise Murphy in the Radial class, and Matt McGovern and Ryan Seaton in the 49er Skiff. World Championships in Perth (December 5-18th) will decide 75 per cent of London qualifying spots, with only one boat per nation. The remaining 25 per cent coming from World Cup events.
ROWING
No crews currently qualified. A men’s lightweight double scull, a women’s lightweight double scull, and a women’s open double scull are still targeting qualifying spots but only two spaces in each crew are still available and will be decided at the Lucerne Regatta next May.
CANOEING
Failed to qualify an Olympic slot from the Slalom World Championships in Bratislava last month. Only two qualifying spots for Europe now remain, and will be decided next May at the European Championships in Augsburg.
