An article in yesterday’s edition, titled “Fake cigarettes packaged with ‘new level of sophistication’, warns Revenue”, incorrectly quoted a Revenue Commissioner spokesman as saying: “We know in 2008 28 per cent of cigarettes purchased here were purchased on the black market. That’s €387 million in lost revenue to the exchequer.” This was said by a spokesman for Japan Tobacco International Ireland. The error was made in the editing process.
The Adventure West special report, with the edition of August 19th, contained a map of the Old Bog Road. The road was wrongly stated to be in Co Sligo. It is in Co Leitrim.
