A Limerick woman, due to celebrate her 21st birthday in two weeks, has died following a party in Dublin at the weekend.

A Limerick woman, due to celebrate her 21st birthday in two weeks, has died following a party in Dublin at the weekend.

Ms Suzanne McGrath, who attended the party with friends on Sunday evening following the Witnness concert at Fairyhouse racecourse, was found in a collapsed state on the first floor of the Temple Theatre. She was taken unconscious by ambulance to the Mater Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 6 a.m. yesterday.

Ms McGrath was an FCA corporal in the 3rd Air Defence Battery at Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick. A post-mortem examination was scheduled to be carried out.

A 16-year-old girl died at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin on Sunday, eight days after she was involved in a road accident in Co Monaghan. The teenager, a Romanian national, was injured during a head-on collision between a jeep and a lorry at Ardee Road, Carrickmacross.

Also yesterday, the body of a man was recovered from Lough Shannon, near Shercock, Co Cavan. It is believed Mr Bernard McEntee (79), Bailieboro Road, Shercock, may have been drawing water from the lake when he fell in.

A fisherman was airlifted off a French vessel 150 miles south-west of Valentia after sustaining a broken arm and taken to Tralee General Hospital by the Shannon Marine Rescue Helicopter.
