The SDLP's spokesman on the environment, Mr Eddie McGrady MP, has criticised the British government's plan to end the dumping of toxic and radioactive waste by 2020, describing the target date as "another generation away". While he welcomed the government's decision to eliminate the dumping of toxic waste into waterways and coastal areas of Britain, he called for an independent public inquiry to "investigate, report and provide recommendations for the future on the whole issue of the nuclear industry".
