Gardaí are questioning 16 people in connection with a series of ATM robberies in the east and south east.

Gardaí are questioning 16 people in connection with a series of ATM robberies in the east and south east.

Twelve men and four women were arrested on Wednesday and yesterday in counties Carlow, Wexford, Kilkenny, Dublin and Westmeath.

Some are being held under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, which allows them to be questioned for seven days, while others are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, which allows them to be held for three days.
