A major security alert led to the closure of the northbound stretch of the M1 between Moira, Co Armagh, and Sprucefield, just outside Lisburn, Co Antrim, last night. The alert, which began shortly before 10 p.m., was still ongoing early today. An RUC spokesman would not give any details on what had started it.
