An Equality Tribunal ruling in favour of a HIV-positive man refused healthcare treatment because of his HIV status was strongly welcomed by the Dublin Aids Alliance yesterday.

The judgment said it was “incorrect and outdated” to treat the man less favourably than a person without HIV.

Jimmy Goulding, who brought the case, said the ruling would help people with HIV/Aids who experience discrimination daily.
